Russian people?

Hello, I like Russian taste and its people; where is a good place to meet Russians who speak English and if I want to go to Moscow but in a budget does anybody conscious where to go and check places to visit while there.

Well, I have met Russian people; I like their culture and I want to learn the communication but have had hard time doing so.

What do you identify about Russian culture and Russian people if you don't speak the language? If you have met some Russians in the US, you will find that it isn't the same when you are alone in Russia. You need to set up a home stay, try and learn the lingua franca and you will meet people. If you hang around where everyone speaks English, you will not.

If you want to meet Russian people, why would you go to Moscow? This can be a very unfriendly city, (like any big municipality) and you are sure to be anonymous. Going to Russia can be dangerous and expensive...and Moscow is one of the most expensive cities in the sphere for foreigners. Some people like to go to Tver, a tiny city a few hours by train from Moscow, where you can get homestay and Russian lessons at a reasonable price. I personally would praise a more radical option, Byelorus, where people are friendlier and more curious about you as a foreigner than almost anywhere in Russia. Also, St. Petersburg is a better and cheaper way out that Moscow, with a more European style design, more friendly scale, but still very cosmopolitan. you can check on the International Hostel through Sindbad Tour to see about staying at this American-owned hostel in the heart of St. Pete.

The best option is to travel here with a compatriot who is Russian and can introduce you to people. It is hard to get to know Russians by meeting them on the street. However, if you get past that, they are quite hospitable, stretch out, and generous. You could also go to Siberia, where the people are really a lot nicer, by and large, but it is hard to get out there and there isn't a whole lot to do.

Impartial wondering. What are some characteristics of Russian people that stand out and seem to be common in most Russians.

Being an Eastern European myself I cannot support but respond to the blond girl at the top. The characteristics described by her are in no way unique to Russians - both the positive and the negative. Romanians can be very obscene too and Romanian women balance many things. Those particular characteristics belong to communism - PERIOD.

In my wilderness the younger generations are friendly, but the older ones have unfortunately been marked by communism in some negative ways. In acknowledged places there is a distance - and this distance is learned from the French, a culture admired very much at the turn of the century in E. Europe. (Tolstoy - Russia , Caragiale - Romania - authors that note this in their writings)

Anyway... from a Romanian perspective, when I think Russians I think great ballet, horrifying ice skaters, Tchaikovsky, and ... yes... Stolichnaya... (vodka). I also think Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky and Kandinsky. With Dostoevsky comes cynicism and acrimony, which I see as Russian characteristics.

As a people Romanians see Russian men as hard workers and hard drinkers, especially in Siberia, where a nice rapidly of Stoli can keep one warm. Their women are considered conventionally beautiful by Romanians.

Some men in some countries will say Russian women are depraved (same goes for Romanian and Moldavian girls). I disagree. The people who make those remarks do so because these girls are sold into servitude/prostitution in countries such as Turkey and Israel (National Geographic, HBO). They are promised waitress jobs, their passports are bewitched away when they arrive to whatever country and they turn them into hookers.
