Why is the Soviet Union/USSR/Russia so wishy-washy during 40s?
More like the 1930s-1950s
First of all were the Soviet Union, USSR and Russia all the same name for one boonies?
Also, I'm confused on their actual government.
So is this the basic timeline:
During WWI, fighting against the US, but afterward become democracy, help us during WWII by keeping their look like, and then all of a sudden become communist and against the US?

During WW1 Russia fought along side the U.S, but Russia withdrew from the war in 1917 due to The Bolshevik's Communist uprising which male to the establishment of the Communist regime in Russia a year later. In the year 1922 Russia changed its name to The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, AKA U.S.S.R, AKA Soviet Union. Well, because Russia (USSR) withdrew from WW1 the Compact of Versailles gave them no new land and even took away some of their land to form new European countries. The compact had many flaws including blaming all of WW1 on Germany. This war-guilt clause caused Germany to wage war on Europe once more in 1939 (WW2). Before I get in front of myself I should mention that Joseph Stalin took control of the Soviet Union in 1924. Stalin was a terrible dictator who ruled with an iron fist. Alright so the USSR goes to war with Germany as does primarily Britain, France, and eventually the United States. Long story short Germany surrenders and it is again habits to make a new treaty, but this time it's different. This time we have leaders from two different sides of the political spectrum, Communism and Democracy. President Truman and British Prime Divine Churchill dicovered soon that they would not get along with Stalin. In both WW1 and WW2 Germany was able to conquor the weak countries between them and the USSR. Stalin didn't in need of the same mistake to happen again so insisted that 6 of the nations between them became strong communist countries, this included half of Germany and half of the urban district of Berlin(inside Germany), these became known as satilitte nations. This divided Europe in an "iron curtain". The US then desided to avoid the threat of communism that they would make a containment policy called the Truman Doctrine. So the Cold War began, this war never Non-Standard real involved any fighting, but caused many sub-wars such as Vietnam and Korean wars. The real war was an arms fly between the two majoy world powers. Decades pass by and the Soviet Union remains the same UNTIL 1991 when the Soviet Union (USSR) breaks excluding under the leadership of Mikhail Gorbachev. Gorbachev's policy invoved openess to critism of the Soviet government and outlined plans for a restruction of Soviet companionship. The Soviet Union returned to its formor name of Russia and peace relations between the US and Russia went into effect. Also the satillite nations collapsed and astray their communist government and moved towards democracy. So it is today and hopefully Russia and the US will remain democratic allies. Pitiable for the long history lesson, I hope this wasn't too much information for what you were asking!
USSR and Soviet Union were the same country which existed in much the same place as the russian empire and russian federation that existed before and after it.

they fight for the allies during WWI from the beginning in 1914 until 1917, a little before we enter on the same side. they leave because the bolshevik function led by vladimir lenin has seized power and wants peace. since russia was a friend of our friends, we send troops to squabble the bolsheviks, but lose, and russia becomes the communist soviet union. in WWII, we were allies with them by circumstance, in fact we hated each other. purely by coevality, we had been attacked by the same alliance, so we temporarily buried the axe, only to dig it back up immediately after the war ended.
