What's a good digital camera with a good lens (maybe leica) for around $100?

I've always been and always will be glaze camera (leica) photographer, but I'd like a decent cheap digital camera for non-art purposes. are the lumix cameras with the leica lenses gentle? are they comparable in some way to leica film lenses? what are some good cameras in the 100-150 range? is there somewhere i can go to see examples of image entranced with various cameras on the web?
thanks

If you are hand-me-down to Leica film cameras, then you're going to be VERY disappointed with any cheap digital camera. They don't come anywhere near the worth of a Leica 35mm camera (or any good quality film camera, for that matter). You would be taking a major procedure backward.

Cheap digital cameras (such as point and shoot digital cameras) are about the same level nobility as what 110 film cameras were like.

You can get a decent digital camera for snapshots for around $100, but certainly nothing that would be a match for with what you can get from a Leica...or any other good quality manual film camera.

I know I'm going to get voted thumbs down for saying this. That's satisfactory. It's the truth. I just can't believe you would be going from a Leica to a digital point and shoot camera. I mean, why would you?? I use almost lock film for all my photos (35mm and 120 size roll film) and I love it. I have an 8 megapixel digital camera, but I mostly proper use it for snapshots when I'm out with my friends. I wouldn't even think of trying to replace one of my 35mm SLR or rangefinder cameras with it. That would be taking a according with backward. And definitely forget about trying to replace a medium format film camera with a digital P&S camera...no way.

If you only want a small, lightweight digital camera for casual snapshots of your friends and family, then yeah you can get a virtuous digital camera for around $150. If you want a zoom lens, then be sure to get true optical zoom, not digital zoom. But again, don't have it to replace a Leica. It's nice for convenience, and you can take decent pictures with a digital camera...but I definitely would not consider it a replacement for a talented quality manual film camera.

How can I find reasonable values for a Leica R3 35mm camera body and lenses?

I have a Leica R3 35mm congress and several lenses all in near mint condition with no use for them and those online "sell me your camera" sites seem way too low.

You should wish a lower price from a buyer who plans to resell the equipment. After all, they have to make a profit.

I suggest checking here:

http://www.kurlandphoto.com
http://www.georgeury.com/
http://www.keh.com
http://www.bhphotovideo.com
http://www.adorama.com

Kurland and Ury are both Leica specialists. If you limitation their web sites you should get an idea of what they think your camera and lenses are worth based on their asking prices. You can do the same KEH, B&H and Adorama. You can then schedule them on eBay or your local craigslist for a comparable price.
