Does anybody know anything about black steiner binoculars?

A extensive time ago i bought a pair of 8x30 military binocs that were made in west Germany, so its obviously pre 1990 or so. But the kinky thing is that they are black, not the olive drab that most military models are? A friend said that they might be the pilots copy, but I cant find them anywhere online. Does any body know what they are and what their value is?

There are Steiner binocs that are awful they are generally not marketed as military spec optics. However there are a few models from Steiner that are black and classed as "Navigational" so your compatriot may be on to something. As far as value goes there are Steiner Models comparable to yours pricing from $699-$999 but are green.
I would recommend contacting Steiner at once to see if your binocs are valuable or not.

What's the difference between the steiner 12x40 & 12x50 binoculars other than the obvious looks?

the larger design ( 50mm) will gather more light, so you see better in dim, so you can hunt longer. also, the 12x50 has a wider field of view.
